Return of the Lions Legends.

Sunday 5th December, 11 am at the Uni Oval.

Following the success of last years match against the Australian Cricket Society's Last Over XI, the Legends have agreed to a rematch. Once again some of University Lion's finest past players will turn back the clock and risk permanent incapacitation for another chance to tread the green sward of the Uni oval. They boast of playing careers spanning from the early 1960s to the early 1990s, more than 45,000 runs scored and more than 2500 wickets taken - and have memories (??) of seasons when the Uni wicket didn't bounce above shin height after the first hour of a match, when covers were something that sometimes appeared on the wicket late on a Friday night after Travs closed, and when obligatory Thursday night training sessions included tactical discussions at 3 am the following Friday morning at Sinbads Tavern - most have at least one flag (and subsequent celebrations) to remember plus many other legendary moments in the history of the University Cricket Club.

The Last Over XI, perhaps in recognition of the great depth of the Club, have recruited several "younger Lions Legends" for the day. There are rumours of long held scores to be settled but these are more likely to be deferred to a late afternoon session of reminiscences in the bar!! Come and join us for a laugh and a bit of nostalgia.

We hope to bring you an un-biased and sober report of the match by anyone
who survives it some time after the event.
