Richie joins an all-star City team in the bush for a good cause.

University's Graeme Cunningham joined an all-star group of TCA cricketers to take on a Huon Channel Cricket Association team at Margate on Sunday 2nd. April.

The game was one of several planned fundraisers to assist seven year old Brady Rees, son of Margate CC and Channel Football Club stalwart Stephen Rees, to travel to the mainland for a bone marrow transplant.

The all-stars included Damien Wright, Luke and Nathan Butterworth, David Dawson, Nathan Webb and Brett Geeves amongst others.

Given the supposed 'inbalance' between the assembled squads it was decided to mix the two groups - which would acually prove to be a blessing to those who had made the trip down the Southern Outlet and lengthen the game! Whilst not privy to all the scores and bowling figures it can be stated that Nathan Butterworth thought the pitch was so narrow he wouldn't be able to land a ball on it (and was correct), Geevesy was bowled by a full toss, Butts lost middle stump first ball, Wrighty also went for a golden duck (straight to square leg) and so on!

Richie was happy to field in the one spot all innings and not bowl ("It's too bloody cold") but was to prove as effective on a synthetic pitch as on turf - even when the ball hit the join in the middle of the pitch! His 25 off 10 balls was about the best batting, even given his unfamiliar one-day top!

Richie launches the ball into the front yard of no. 26 Van Morey Road; Damien Wright admires the shot!

Gold coin donations were welcomed and there were raffles aplenty and food to aid the cause. A good crowd turned out despite the inclement weather and everyone had a very enjoyable afternoon - even the all-stars having looked at the score book!

All the best to Brady and we're sure that the organisers would like to thank the TCA guys for giving their time.
