Toppdog returns to Uni.
Chris Topp is set to return to the Lions this season. Toppdog, as he is affectionately known, is an English player hailing from the Bexhill Cricket Club which
plays in the Premier Division of the Sussex Cricket League.
In the season just completed in England Chris took 33 wickets for Bexhill at an average of 20.15 with a best performance of 6 for 85 against Lewis Priory.
As you may perceive from the picture, Chris is a left arm orthodox bowler and will be involved in coaching our juniors.
We will claim Chris as our talisman for the coming season as he last played for the club in the 1999/2000 season - the season in which the club won
the 1st grade, 2nd grade and Under 17 T.C.A. flags and also claimed the statewide Kookaburra Cup title and won the state Super 8 titles in the Under 15s
and Under 17s.
Chris was a member of the 2nd grade premiership team in the 1999/2000 season. That team included current players Tim Paine, Heath Chick and Paul and
Dominic McNamara as well as fellow Englishman Ben Thompson and other recently departed Lions' players such as Nathan King and Ben Coombs.
Chris arrives on Saturday, 29th October and rumour has it that he will be taking up lodgings with one Darren McNees who has a flat very close to the
University. Given Toppdog's (drinking) form on his last sojourn here that should prove to be very convenient for those 'big nights' at the clubrooms.
