This is truly a remarkable achievement.

It begs the question - has this feat been achieved by other allrounders in the T.C.A. first grade competition?

Mike Gandy, who has done extensive research into past T.C.A. records, confirms that there are definitely other T.C.A. allrounders from the past with imposing records.

Charles Eady (1884 to 1908) - 671 runs and 118 wickets with Lefroy, 6969 runs and 453 wickets with Break O'Day, 1071 runs and 102 wickets with South Hobart for a total of 8711 runs and 673 wickets.

Ken Burns was another big performer - total club stats - 12163 runs and 362 wickets for Wellington from 1883 to 1905 and East Hobart from 1905 to 1910.

Emerson Rodwell - 11352 runs and 318 wickets for Glenorchy from 1938/1939 to 1963/1964.

Gerald James - 6807 runs and 635 wickets for Glenorchy from 1933/1934 to 1949/1950. He also played with New Town before joining Glenorchy for a couple of seasons but his New Town figures are not included in these totals.

Ian James - 4150 runs and 330 wickets for Glenorchy from 1964/1965 to 1984/1985

The most runs scored by anyone in T.C.A. cricket would be Ron Morrisby who scored over 15000 for South Hobart. He later played a couple of seasons with Clarence when they first started.

At Kingborough there have been some great allrounders too;

Keith Schmidt - 7101 runs and 484 wickets - 1946/1947 to 1965/1966.

Artie Combes - 3434 runs and 487 wickets - 1932/1933 to 1948/1949.

Of course there is Brian Richardson who played with almost everyone - at Kingborough - 4565 runs and 119 wickets.

Brian Patterson at Sandy Bay and Clarence is another player who would have passed both milestones but his figures are not available.

Brad's record is noteworthy in that he has achieved these milestones playing for the one club. The T.U.C.C. is obviously the main beneficiary of such loyalty.

Of course, Brad has been playing first grade cricket for fewer years than most of the aforementioned players. Perhaps if he extends his career for another decade he may well be able to pass 15000 runs and 673 wickets!

We thank Mike Gandy for his research and for allowing us to use these figures in this article.
