Two out of Twelve ain't bad - Hilf and Tim in the PM's team to face the Poms.
And will we ever see them again we asked previously? Tim Paine and
Ben Hilfenhaus that is. Not that worried about Meatloaf!
Well - it's looking more doubtful by the day! After a solid thrashing by Queensland in the opening Ford Ranger game (in which the Uni. duo performed well) and
an outright victory against the same opposition in the Pura Cup game (in which the Uni. duo did even better) the lads from Rokeby and Ulverstone have been selected
in the PM's team to play the opening game of the Ashes campaign against the Poms! The PM's team will be captained by Jason Gillespie and played at Manuka
Oval. And two of the team are Uni. guys!
We're obviously happy that the pair will continue to jet around the country (after having jetted around the world previously) and wish them all the best. Some around
the Club have got good odds on Hilfy getting a run in the Ashes series - the odds are now way less. Tim may have to wait a couple of years but the odds of both Uni.
guys playing together, for Australia, in the near future are still a very good thing. Don't say we haven't given you a good tip!
And just a final, somewhat political, note to the cricket nut/nominal selector of the team. Two of his team are from a sports club associated with a University whose
funding has just been cut by his Government! We wouldn't expect Tim or Hilf to say any more than 'G'day' when they're introduced. Then again??
