Hilfy gets a CA contract!

Cricket Australia today announced their contrcted list of players for next season. The TUCC are not at all surprised to see that our own Ben Hilfenhaus is included.

Hilfy's record and achievements for University can be seen throughout this website. Since heading south from Ulverstone and having a desire to play firstly for Tasmania and then Australia his commitment has been obvious. He had a Tassie 'rookie' contract and then lost it so went back to being a brickie's labourer (not a brickie) and the gym and the nets. He burst back for Tassie two years ago and last season was the leading wicket taker in the Pura Cup, made a Twenty20 debut for Australia and then his 1-day debut the next week.

It's both a proud and sad day for the TUCC. Whilst we'll all follow his career as it will no doubt head ever further upwards it will also mean that we'll see less and less of not only a great bowler but also a very level headed, unassuming and personable young guy around the rooms.

This website won't be able to keep track of Hilfy in the future (unless he should ever play for us again) but we'll try - somehow.
