The first TUCC Scholarship to be awarded next year.

The Tasmania University Cricket Club launched the University Foundation-sponsored T.U.C.C. Scholarship appeal in May 2003. In that time the club has raised $30,000.

Now that we have reached this $30,000 target the University has agreed to donate annually, for 5 years, a matching contribution equal to the interest earned from the Scholarship Appeal Trust Fund (this would amount to an annual increase of about $3,500 not including other donations).

So the time has come to offer the inaugural T.U.C.C. Scholarship and the University Foundation and the T.U.C.C. will strenuously promote the scholarship over the coming months.

The one-year scholarship valued at $3,000 will be awarded to a student who is eligible to enroll or has already enrolled in any course at the University of Tasmania who is a talented cricketer and commits to playing for the Tasmania University Cricket Club (T.U.C.C.) for the 2007/08 season.

The closing date for applications is 31st August 2007.

A selection committee consisting of the President of the Tasmania University Cricket Club, a member of the Tasmania University Cricket Club nominated by the committee of the Tasmania University Cricket Club and a nominee of the Vice-Chancellor will award the scholarship.

The inaugural T.U.C.C. Scholarship will be awarded at a function to be held in January 2008. A high profile former cricketer will be invited to speak at the function and the inaugural winner, the function itself and the club will receive good media exposure.

Many former players, administrators and supporters of the club have donated generously to the T.U.C.C. Scholarship appeal. To see the full list of donors link to the Donors Board. All donors who have made a gold donation ($500), or a greater donation, will receive an invitation to the inaugural T.U.C.C. Scholarship function in January 2008.

Donations to the scholarship appeal can still be made at any time and all new donors who make a gold donation, or better, before Christmas this year will also receive an invitation to the inaugural T.U.C.C. Scholarship function. Of course, with tax benefits it would be best to make your donation before 30th June 2007 so that you can claim the donation in this year's tax return.
