National Volunteer Week - Youth Cricket
Date of Event University of Tasmania Cricket Club: Wed May 22, 2019 7:30PM

Tonight we recognise the magnificent contribution that Sean Stevenson and Shaun Clifford make to our Youth Cricket Program.

Sean has progressed through the ranks as a coach, as sons Riley and Elliot have moved through the age groups.  He has supported players in Under 12's, Under 13's and this year was our Under 15 Premier League Coach.  Always willing to lend a hand with anything - scoring, umpiring, administrative tasks - Sean has come into his own with his encouraging and supportive coaching style to get the most out of his players, and ensuring they all enjoy their cricket.  We look forward to seeing Sean's continual development as a coach and volunteer in the coming years.

Shaun Clifford first started volunteering at the club cooking the BBQ every Thursday night after training.  Last season, you will have seen him coaching our Under 17 Girls side, scoring for men's and women's sides, running the canteen, at the nets, applying his building skills towards minor works around the clubrooms and nets - and still cooking the BBQ.  Shaun supported the club by upgrading the scorer's box last season which was showing significant signs of wear and tear and water damage, by replacing the table and installing storage solutions.  Let's not forget the significant kilometres that Shaun and wife Kristy cover every weekend driving from Cygnet, at times as far as Gretna (over 3 hours return trip!).  Shaun is just an all-round great guy who is always willing to help out and support the club, which was recognised in 2018 as he was awarded Best Club Person.  Shaun has had 4 children play for the club - Lachlan, Jackson, Amalia and Campbell - and he is now well and truly part of the furniture.  We look forward to Shaun continuing to evolve and grow in confidence as a coach in the coming years.

Thank you to Sean and Shaun for all that they contribute to the club!
