The University of Tasmania Cricket Club are excited to welcome Kristen Beams to our coaching panel for Season 2020/21, in the role of Senior Development & Skills Coach - Female Cricket.
Launceston-born Beams brings with her a wealth of experience as a coach and player at the highest level, experienced as both an administrator and Level 3 Coach within cricket at all levels from club coach with Essendon Maribyrnong Park Ladies Cricket Club (Victoria), to Game Development at Cricket Australia, to working in the Past Player Program at the Australian Cricketers Association and as a High Performance Scholarship Coach with Cricket Victoria, and most recently in her current role at Cricket Tasmania as Coaching and Talent Consultant.
Beams has an exceptional playing resume which includes representing Australia's Test, One-Day International and Twenty20 sides, Victoria in the Women's National Cricket League and the Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League.
Beams forged a career as a dangerous and consistent leg-spinner, playing one Test match, 30 ODIs and 18 T20Is. Beams' strong leadership qualities saw her captain Victoria and the Melbourne Stars. Beams will work closely with Director of Coaching Ben Harrison, who will also take the lead role in coaching our female cricket teams this season.
""I am very excited to be taking the role as lead coach for our Senior Female teams for the 2020/21 season and I am really looking forward to working with all our female players to further grow their passion for the game and develop their skills, whilst providing important opportunities in our club teams for those players striving hard to achieve representative honours for the Tigers, Hurricanes or in the CT pathway system now and in the future." Harrison said.
UTAS Cricket President Charles Rose said the club are thrilled to have both Ben and Kristen commit to lead their female program into the future.
"The appointment of Kristen Beams as our Senior Development & Skills Coach – Female Cricket is a wonderful addition. To have a coach of Kristen's calibre working directly with Ben to enhance our female coaching structure will ensure that our female program has the highest quality coaching team in Premier cricket in Tasmania, with two Level 3 High Performance Coaches with specialist female coaching experience developing our cricketers."
“We look forward to seeing our female program thrive under Kristen and Ben’s leadership”, Rose said.
