Tasmania University Cricket Scholarship

The Tasmania University Cricket Club launched the University Foundation-sponsored T.U.C.C. Scholarship appeal in May 2003. In that time the club has raised over $35,000.

The University of Tasmania has kindly offered to support the T.U.C.C. Scholarship. The University Foundation has agreed to donate annually a matching contribution equal to the interest earned from the Scholarship Appeal Trust Fund (this would amount to an annual increase of about $3,500 not including other donations). This matching contribution will continue forever on the condition that we meet specific targets over the course of the next few years and ultimately reach $50,000 within 4 years.

Consequently we are inviting our former players and administrators, supporters and those cricket lovers, in general, sympathetic to the aims of the T.U.C.C. Scholarship to donate to the T.U.C.C. Scholarship appeal.

On 31st January 2008 former international cricketer David Boon presented the inaugural T.U.C.C. Scholarship to UTAS pharmacy student Alex Saunders at a ceremony held in the University Club on campus.

This was a monumental day in the history of the club and we are hopeful that the scholarship will become a perpetual scholarship. In fact, in time we would like to be able to offer two scholarships annually. In order to see this vision come to fruition the club requires further donations in order to meet the targets outlined by the University Foundation.

Donations to the scholarship appeal can still be made at any time and all donors who have made or make a gold donation, or better, before Christmas this year will receive an invitation to the 2009 T.U.C.C. Scholarship function.

Donations are tax deductible and G.S.T. free.

There are three basic levels of donation;
Lion-hearted donor - $1,000
Gold donor - $500
Century Donor - $100

Please do not feel limited by the higher level of donation listed above. If your personal convictions and/or financial circumstances allow you to make a larger contribution your donation will be most gratefully received.

Cheques should be made payable to 'University of Tasmania Foundation - T.U.C.C. Scholarship' and mailed to;

Donations can also be made by credit card by filling in the form available at this link. Regardless of whether you make a donation by cheque or credit card please print out the form, fill it in and send it to the above address with your donation.

Please indicate in your correspondence which name you would like listed on the scholarship donor board. The name of an individual or a business name could be entered. If you would like to be recognised as an anonymous donor on all public listings of donations received then indicate this on the form as well.

Many former players, administrators and supporters of the club have donated generously to the T.U.C.C. Scholarship appeal. The current state of the Scholarship funds can be viewed on the scholarship donor board.
