Report (by Nick Grubb)

(DAY 1). Rain delayed play for an hour before the game commenced. Ash Winter won the toss and elected to bat due to the slippery conditions.

Ash sent out Robert Sim and and young gun Hayden Kitchener to open the batting. Sim was bowled in the first over after recieving a ball which kept low; this sent out young Ellis Perry.

These two were batting well as Hayden Kitchener started to smash Clarence's bowling attack. He then knicked one to the keeper and was out for 32. Ash Winter was next in to bat and was off the mark first ball. Ellis Perry was next to fall after chopping a leg side delivery onto the stumps. Mark Fenton was sent in at five and smashed a quick 43 with one huge six over midwicket but he then was trapped lbw as yet another delivery kept low.

Josh Parker was next to bat as Ash and Josh put on a good partnership with some terrific stroke play. Mark then crept out of his crease and was stumped for a solid 35. Ash then hauled out to long on for a good captains knock of 60.

We then lost our last three wickets for only one run and we were all out for 213.

Ash Winter and Josh Parker were given the new ball and capitalised early, each snaring one wicket and had Clarence 2 for 29 at stumps.

(DAY 2) Resuming at 2 for 29 Clarence had a tough task ahead of them, with Josh Parker snagging another 2 early wickets. Both Josh and Ash bowled very tight and Clarence never looked like being in it and were rolled for 138.

Good individual performances from Ash Winter with 5 wickets, Josh Parker with 3 and Mark Fenton with 2. Uni went back into bat and added another 89 runs declaring at 9 for 89.

Ash again started very well with the ball to get another 2 wickets but Uni couldn't quite get the outright, running out of time at the end of the day with Clarence at 5 for 128.

This was a great start to the year for the u/17s and should be proud of themselves for such a great win.
