Report (by Peter Robinson)
The most outstanding indiividual effort of the season secured the team's
second win.
Ash Winter took 6-21 off eight overs in the 40 over innings against a
talented North Hobart to restrict the chase to 157 for victory, and then
dominated in his time at the crease.
North lost three early wickets, thanks to Winter's efforts, but recovered to
set a competitive target, helped by Uni's 26 wides.
Uni's fielding was very
good on a difficult surface with Ellis Perry's catch at midwicket and a
direct hit runout by Josh Parker the highlights.
Sam Peacock and Parker also bowled well to concede only nine runs each from
their five overs.
Uni worked hard early in its innings with Robert Sim making 30, but at 3/48
the game was in the balance.
Enter Ash Winter, and with strong support from opener Hugh Steven, the duo
put on an unbeaten 114 to secure victory with more than eight overs to spare.
Winter finished with 67 not out (eight 4s and two 6s) and Steven 54 not out
(10 fours).
A good effort which keeps us in touch with top four.
