(DAY 1).  We batted the first week making a competitive 9 for 166, with Pat Bigg top scoring with 34 not out and Tom Richie making 27. The total should have been a lot higher with many batsmen making good starts then getting out after the hard work had been done, maybe a little more value has to be put on you wicket! But overall and good performance.
(DAY 2). The Uni boys arrived and we soon found out we would be fielding with 9 people - not a easy task. Add to that the heat (about 30 degrees) and it could have added up to a very long day. After a very short warm up, everyone put the whites on and got ready for the day ahead. The opening bowling combination bowled very well for no rewards, both Olly and Sam going for less than 20. On came Chris Dada Morrison who turned into a unlikely destroyer capturing 3 for 7 in 4 overs. At one stage we had Lindisfarne 5 for 91and wre in a very good position to roll them for less than the target of 167. But it wasn't to be - a very good partnership taking them from 5 for 91 to 6 for 140. Wozza's second spell was brilliant ending up with 4 for 60. Olly bowled well from one end all day, very unlucky not to get a pole. Chris ended up with 4 for 39 and very good effort certain to earn him more overs in the future. Lindisfarne ended up with 216 thanks to a few productive late partnerships. Overall I was very impressed with our fielding and bowling efforts. That left us with about and hour and half to bat. It's hard to bat when the match is won but it should be used to gett batting practice. We didn't quite use it like maybe we should; we ended up 6 for 65!! I'm sure everyone will work hard on out batting in the coming week. |
