(DAY 1). Pre-Game At home for the first time since round 2 and the Uni Scoobies were keen to keep its unbeaten record in tact with a confident win. Unfortunately the toss was lost for the first time this season and the Scoobies were put into the field forced to bowl on a great batting wicket. Game Sam Perkins opened the day with a great delivery hitting the Lindisfarne opener half way up his leg directly in front, however judged not out to the extreme disappointment of the fielding team. The same opener was to get away with a few more lucky decisions that went his way on his way to 81. The Scoobies went to lunch ingloriously with Lindisfarne comfortable at 2/82.  After lunch, an early spell from Mike Hollingsworth and Sam Perkins didn't yield a wicket. Nick Bonner and Paul Hudson followed and bowled reasonably tightly for the rest of the session to take another two wickets to tea. Despite it being a much more spirited effort from the Scoobies, Lindisfarne still managed 2/80 for the session and were in control. Following tea, a number of bowlers were given an opportunity, Sam Perkins, Josh Lambert, Paul Ancher, Mike Hollingsworth, Nick Bonner and Paul Hudson, as for the first time this season, the Scoobies were on the back foot with Lindisfarne scoring freely. The bowlers toiled well in the tiring afternoon sun and were able to take four more wickets to finish the day with Lindisfarne 8/289.Post-Game The Scoobies expect Lindisfarne to bat on for a while next week. The batting lineup has a big task next week. |
