Report (by Chris Morrison)

Turning up in the new colours of the one day tops gave the uni boys a bit
of brightness about their apperance. With the captain winning the toss it
was defently the right decision to make.
The batting line up looked good and
was finalised with Chris Morrison and Hayden Kitchener opening the uni
innings. The two smashed the opening bowlers of South Hobart Sandy Bay.
After ten overs the partnership was at 74. On 43 Chris was bowled and the
partnership ended.
Ollie went in but was gone for 6. Tom Richie stayed in
for 6 overs but soon departed on a low score. And then not long after that
Hayden, hitting one six and many fours, was caught on 59. Courtney Winter
also took to the bowlers smashing a quick 43 of 9 overs.
This included two
huge sixes and 6 fours. Sam Boxell had a hit but was gone early and Rob
Hortle and Ross Deans consolidated a little partnership to see out the
remaning overs both not out on 13 and 8. Making 230 was a good looking score
and we knew if we bowled well South Hobart Sandy Bay had no hope of reaching
it.
Ollie Robinson and Sam Boxell opened the bowling. Both bowled well with good
pace but unfortunatly could not pick up a wicket. Kev Jubb got the breakthrough
University were looking for sending one of the Bay opners back to
the sheds leaving them 1 for 20 after 13 overs. Chooka Hensby bowled well
picking up the wicket of the other opener and bowling 3 maidens to be 1/4
after his spell.
Tom Richie and Ross Deans both bowled and and each of them
picked up wickets that we were looking for. The Bay never looked to be
threatning our score of 230 and that was obvious after the 40 overs were
finished. The made 87, 140 runs short of our total.
A good win boys- well done.
