Report (by Steve Kerr)

(DAY 1). On a cool but sunnny morning University won the toss and, in what me well be a first for many a season, invited Glenorchy to bat on a wicket with a fair covering of grass.
Hilfy, under a slight injury cloud following suffering an ankle injury mid-week, opened from the Uni. end and Gordy, again into a stiff breeze, from the Southern end. Gordy struck in the second over; Richie taking a blinder at second slip. Gordy's third over saw Lurch take another slips catch - 2-14. Hilf was replaced by skipper Thommo afer bowling 6 overs, whilst Gordo bowled his limit, finishing with 2-11off his eight overs.

Wintz replaced Gordo and bowled three overs without success and spin was introduced via. Bars who struck in his third over, Tim taking a catch from a thin edge, 3-55. Brad claimed his first for the day with the dangerous Butterworth(L) caught behind, a just reward for a fine spell of bowling. At lunch Glenorchy were 4-86

The post lunch session belonged initially to Glenorchy. Birt and Williams both brought up their 50s but with their hundred partnership in sight Birt was caught behind off Hilfy with the score on 163. Two runs later Hilfy struck again, Bars taking a simple catch at square leg. By tea Glenorchy had progressed to 6/182.

With no further wickets falling, the new ball was taken by Gordy in the 82nd. over with the score at 6/206, Hilfy back on down wind. The two bowled tightly and Gordy had Pickering caught at point by Hilf - 7/219. Six runs later a throw from the boundary from Wintz saw a run out at the bowler's end - 8/225. Another run out next ball with the batsmen trying for a second run - 9/226. Some lusty hitting from Butterworth(N) took Glenorchy to 9/246 before they declared at 5.38, leaving Uni. to face a testing 3 overs before stumps.

Lurch and Tim safely saw Uni to stumps with the score at 0/15.

An intriguing second day awaits, with Uni. only needing a draw to progress to the Grand Final next week.

(DAY 2). Unfortunately the second day was not at all intriguing, with Uni. being bowled out for 90 before Lunch. The two captains agreed to call it a day and drinks were taken early.
