(Day 1). The Uni boys trudged up to Mount Nelson on a cold windy morning to try and triumph against Kingborough in a two day match. We unfortunately lost the toss, Kingborough electing to bat on a dry, fast outfield. James Barrenger opened the bowling along with Ellis Pitt. The boys got off to a good start with James taking 1/5 off five and Ellis finishing with 1/14. Then into the attack came Zach Luttier (last week's hat trick hero) and Cam Jefferey to see if they could work up some of last weeks magic. Zach and Cameron Burnett combined to take an excellent wicket, Cameron diving high to his left to take a one handed specky. Liam Perkins surprised us all by taking a wicket on his third ball caught behind by keeper Jimmy Hortle. A lot of people took wickets but nobody bagged more than one - Dom Mackie-Cahill finishing up with one for four and a maiden off four overs. Jimmy added a wicket with a specky caught and bowled diving onto the pitch. Chalam Tuantaub also chipping in with a wicket - his first for the club. Kingborough totalled 189 runs, 40 of these being extras - nearly all wides and no balls. We need to work on our bowling but apart from that it was a good effort in the field. |
