The uni boys went out for their last game of the season ready to upset the undefeated Kingbrough Lions. They started off well with Captain Collidge wining in the toss and electing to bat. Jimmy Hortle and Hugh Burgess went out to open the batting and were getting set in until the 3rd over when Jimmy skied one 2 the keeper and we were 1/3. Next in was Julian Dobsoz. He and Burgess settled in and started to progress the score until Jules got out in the 11th over for 4 with the score at 2/32. Next in was Collidge who set about boosting the run rate and just when he looked set for a big innings he was cleaned up for 8 with the score at 3/43. Next was Foggy and he was belting the ball and he and Burgess looked in fine touch together before we got out on 14 with the score at 65. Next in was Ryan Patmore who at drinks changed to his captain’s bat for unknown reasons but it paid off with him making 18 before being caught with the score at 93. Next in was Gus who didn’t last long which was unlucky because he was in fine nick when having throw downs. Next in was Domonic and he and Burgess pushed the score along nicely till Dom got out for 12 with the score at 121 next in was Larry Owen who got a Quacker but was unlucky. That sent Kieran in but before long the end of a great innings of Burgess came when he was trapped L.B.W on 37. Next in was Ben but to for long because Kieran got out leaving us with 131 to defend. The Uni Boys went out thinking they could win this one and got off to a great start with a wicket in the 1st over. Then in the 4th over we almost had another one but he was given not out after the Umpire thought he hit his pad. The 2nd change bowlers kept up the good work and at drinks they were 3/48. Things were looking good Collidge and Hortle tried to keep it up but with a expensive over from Collidge and Hortle not at his best the runs started to climb. Burgess and Dom got carted and Extras was gunning it. They got the score in the 35th over. In the last 5 overs we saw Gus bowl his spinners. Joe off a long run and Ryan got a caught and bowled with his leggies and finished the season with every one except 2 individuals in the slips. On a up note, we caught well today with good catches being taken by Dom, Ryan in slips, Ben at cover and Joe at point. A good way to end an average season that was filled with fun. Well Done Boys. |
