The Uni boys arrived at the oval ready to do a lot better than the 16 of last week. We lost the toss and Sorell decided to bat. Ryan Patmore and Larry Owen opened the bowling with Larry breaking through in the 6th over. Then in the 6th over Ryan Patmore, with the 1st ball being played to cover pushily, brought cover in closer and Josh Kemp took an amazing catch to give Ryan his 1st wicket. Next ball Ryan bowled a cracking delivery knocking over the stumps to be on a hat-trick The next ball the batsmen edged to Ashley in slips and on the 5th juggle Ashley took the catch and Ryan gets a Hat-trick. Next Ashley got a wicket and all the bowlers pitched in to get Sorell out for 75 - another good effort in the field. As Joe Collidge and Mathew Fogarty went out to open the Uni boys were in good sprits. When Fogarty departed in the 3rd over with the score at 16 we were looking better than last week. With Collidge and Patmore at the crease things started to consolidate. Thing were looking up but soon Ryan fell with the score at 29. Next in was Chapman and he only faced 2 balls before being bowled for 2. In came Larry Owen as he and Collidge set about steadying the innings. They took the team to 60 before Collidge got bowled on 33. Next out was Ashley for a golden duck then Ben got out 2 balls later for another duck. Wwe needed 13 to win at this point and thought we could do it with 35 overs to go and 2 batsmen but then Larry got out soon after and we needed a 13 run partnership between Josh Kemp and Ellis Davies Pitt and they got us to 70 and we were looking good before Ellis got caught leaving us 5 runs shy of our 1st victory of the season. Well done in the field again but we need to work on our batting a bit. |
