The Uni boys were back after the long break and ready to post their 1st win of the season. Captain Joe Collidge won the toss and decided to have a bat so out went Collidge and Dobsoz to open. They got off to a good start with the score being 0/36 off 4 then in the fifth Collidge departed caught. That brought Mathew Chapman a.k.a The Pom out to the crease. The Pom lasted all of 4 balls before he was cleaned up. Then out came Kieran Yarrow with the score at 2-39 but soon after that Julian was out for 32 and that brought Gus Yarrow to the wicket. The Yarrow boys put on a clinic with an 82 run partnership before Kieran went just before drinks. The score at drinks was 4/133. In the 1st over after drinks Gus got run out on 42 and that bought Ric to the crease. He and Larry consolidated a partnership before Ric went for 20. Next in was Ben Allton who has not had a lot of luck with the bat this year but he stuck around with Larry till Larry got out for 26 and then Ellis Pitt got bowled leaving Ben 7 N.O and us on 197. A good effort with the bat. The uni boys were happy with their efforts and thought they were on track to the 1st victory of the season. Missing our 2 strike bowlers Larry and The Pom opened the bowling with The Pom keeping things tight down 1 end but Larry got carted at the other so on came Dobsoz and snared the 1st wicket and thing looked up when Collidge got the second. That was about it - all the bowlers except for Ric got carted and Clarence won in 26 overs. A good day with the bat but a SHOCKER with the ball |
