(Day 1). University lost the toss and North decided to field. The ground was in remarkably good condition after Saturday`s heavy rain. But after losing 2 for 0 in the first over things weren`t looking too bright ! But the Uni boys started to dig in and work the bowlers., but then at 5 for 53 a score over 100 was looking difficult.This brought together Tommo Bilson(32) and Jackson Willows (35) who batted for over an hour and put on 76 runs for the 6th wicket.. The tail then wagged a bit , and we were all out in the 49 th over for 170. A great result following our early collapse. . Sam Young 18 also batted well. Next Sunday will see us take the field defending the 170 runs and the boys feel confident that with line and length bowling we can make the run chase difficult.( North Hobart had 61 sundries in the field. ) (Day 2). After amassing 170 runs last week it was Uni`s turn to bowl. After a great start with some inspired accurate bowling from Liam Perkins and Jackson Willows we had North at 2 for 15.North then put together a 48 run partnership and the Uni fielding dropped off a little. After drinks we had a solid effort leading to 5 for 75 and then 8 for 113. North finished all out for 137 a win to Uni by 33 runs. We have had a great start to the season and look forward to continuing on our ever improving form in the New Year. |
