Report :
(Day 1). No play due to wet wicket surrounds.
(Day 2). Good day guys,
Not quite the result we where after today, but not getting away last week due to the wet grounds made sure it was going to be tough to get a result with the wicket the way it was playing.
Well done to Fenna & Morro for a good start, before morro spooned a catch back to the bowler, Ellis didnt hang around long with hitting a loose ball down leg side straight into the hands of a fielder 3 quarters of the way to the boundry, Fenna starting to wind up missed judged one and was bowled, Sammy Boxsell put on a solid 58 with a partenership with Courtney Winter`s 16.
It is a tough call to say when there is enough runs to protect but still leave it tempting enough for the oppisition to have a go
Our bowling was good but on this occassion maybe to good, It certainaly diddnt look like the easiest track to take wickets on. With the chance to think about it maybe I would of liked to see them given some long hops or somthing they would be tempted into having a good go at to get the ball into the air to create some chances. This is just a thought to make us think of how we can pick up wickets when the track is just not doing anything, or even the bowler & captain take time out to plan what they would like to achieve, you guys may already do this and if so great, May be it might of been my perception from the side line but there didnt appear to be a killing instinct in the field today, not saying it wasnt a good fielding effort, but for you older guys when the going gets tough , "the tough get going"
The stats from TUCC & TCA ladders showed we are a good side, but if we want to make those finals its going to take a fair bit of work yet, I`m at training Tuesdays & Thursdays and would like to see some good turn out
Thanks Tommy Hawkes & Wilko for letting me know about this Thursday night
Thanks to Jacko Swain & Kev Jubb for filling in this week appreciate it
See you guys in the finals
