I will start by thanking all the guys for their effort over the weekend and another thankyou to Jimmy, Hugh & Mataise for the weekend. Well again we started out in the field with 10 players which we did want to do anyway and when Nth Hbt sent us into field we were pleased. It was a stop start day with the weather and with a bit of green on the deck, maybe all of this helped us because we had Nth Hbt on the back foot reasonabily early at 5-73 afetr 26 overs. Sammy Boxstrain had a great first spell and was well backed up by Olli and by the end of their innings had picked up his 3 wickets. Ellis & Tom Ritchie had a early wicket off Tom's 1st ball, Ellis was cutting & swinging with a brilliant line but it was difficult to find the edge but finally broke through for his 2. T who hasnt bowled a ball all year picked up a wicket in his first over and helded a good catch for his appearance Jimmy Hortle after Thursday night was a sure bet by me that he had to bowl, A huge resistance was put up by a good majority of the team that this was not a good idea, anyway I had to dig in and stated if he doesn`t get 2 or 3 wickets I will eat my hat. Well after 1 and a half hours of rain delay I said its time to bring him on they wont be ready for him. Well in the first 2 overs there where 2 catches that fell within metres of our guys & a dropped catch and then a good stumping by Chook. Nth Hbt where able to hang on until the close of the first day, The coming of Sundy saw more rain over night and the old wickets either side & run ups where reasonably wet from the run of off the covers, well there didnt seem to be much concern by Nth Hbt to dry this up, so in search of the super soaker we went and when 100 litres of water went to the boundry that was our warm up and I think Nth Hbt may of got a bit of a shock to see us on the field again only 20 minutes late. With ten overs to the new ball they where able to put on another 34 runs but not untill Ellis bowled # 9 out round his legs. The new ball was taken and with in six balls it was our turn to bat. With no real sign of any differance in the guys where in for the long haul, Sammy who has good form latley nearly found it unplayable & could only manage 7. Ellis looked to be handling it better and looked comfortable, though nearly cut in half a couple of times knocked out a solid 40 untill he padded one away & given LBW. Morro attacked from the first ball and also played it well for his 53 untill he had a premonition that he was going to play it on & he did. Fenna was our number 11 missing on the first day soon got into the attack with three sixes off the one over and soon had his 55 before going for his fourth six holed out. James wilko made a quick 10 before he thought he would play a defensive shot & was bowled, Tom ritchie looked comfortable but wasnt able to keep up his good form of late today and found a LBW decision going his way for his 2 With a pump up Nth Hbt side after a few quick wickets, Olli & Chook played a great part in getting us over the line with 15 to get for the win Well done again guys see you in the finals |
