Round 6 v. Clarence White
Played at Olinda Grove, 5th. December 2006.
(Toss won by : University?)

TUCC : 8-99

Clarence White : 3-130

Report: (by John Cherry)

Clarence were allowed to bat first on a warm and very windy afternoon.

The wind made bowling and fielding very difficult, but the boys stuck to their task well. There were no miss-fields and only one very difficult half chance put down.

Of the bowlers Jack, Tom C and James were the most economical.

The two wicket-keepers, Matthew C and Sam, kept wickets well and did not concede a bye.

When Uni started their innings the wind had dropped as had the temperature. Clarence were certainly favoured by the conditions.

All partnerships batted well, with the running between the wickets a highlight.

Jack and Tom C top scored with an excellent 40 runs, (the games highest).

The scores were not a true reflection of the closeness of the game. Uni did not get any bonus runs whereas Clarence managed 34. This turned out to be the difference.

Our batting has continued to improve with our average for this game the seasons highest, (so far).

Our boys played the game in an excellent spirit, and it was a pleasure to be on the field with them, in the absence of George.
