Another great night was held by the University Black team... although we lost..the team spirit was great...! They arrived with parents in tow and with our new comer Daniel Weeks keeping them amused with his jokes...and his constant ringing of his mobile phone...made for a relaxed but great night...No phone next week Daniel ..the coach is the only one allowed with her mobile switched on...!!! no freddo for you next week.. The weeks Captain....Tom Downing... won the toss.. electing to bat....they went in with such confidence I was scared....thinking ..."What have I created"..!! Jock went in with Tim who became North Hobarts' first victim...sending James Maddock in to bat...slow to start but picked up the pace after the first over..hitting a total of 4 4s...gaining a great partner ship with Tom who retired with 5 runs..great little stayer ...Joshua Boxsell paired up and they both made North Hobart sweat...with Josh hitting 3 4s in a row...both retiring as our highest scores...Joshua 14 James 19...great effort boys...maybe another pair of Tim Paines in the making...!! Selwyn retired on 7...with Hugh and Kade loosing the battle.. both being caught early in there over's...never mind boys.. you played extremely well... sending in Will who finished our over's leaving Daniel without a bat...Hey isn't it better we finished the over's without having an "all out" scenario...!! It was getting really cold.. with all the parents rugging up and sipping a few wines or 10...trying to bribe the coach with a red wine..."ok...just one" oh and don't forget the fathers'... score book and beer in hand...only way to watch the game...!! We went in to feild..with Daniel opening ... gaining our first catch on the second ball..mmm... thought we where going to finish early as the first 3 dropped like flies being 2/5....with Hugh getting our fourth and final wicket out on 10... our boys had a fair bit of running to do with the remaining boys hitting 4s all over the place...hey it kept them warm....! Poor Sam stood freezing as he umpired....Thanks son..!! Our fielding was exceptional tho...Will in the slips stopping a lot of runs...with James..Jock..Kade and Oliver all stopping what could have been many 4s and great wickey by Joshua... North Hobart's Ruben...hit a total of 5 4s...retiring on 27...But... in our minor set back of the loss...the boys should all be proud of the effort in both batting ... and... fielding...co-ordination and ...calling for the ball.... Thankyou to Tom who did a great job in captain...!! It's a lot of fun watching the boys improve their skills and I'm proud of each and every one..!! A big thankyou to all the parents who come and help with the scroing I couldn't do it with out you...keep up the good work team...!! Your coach.... Manda |
