(Day 1). The bowling was fantastic, with all the fielders really supporting them. All catches were taken. Uni then had to face a difficult 8 overs and were 2 for 6 at stumps on day one. (Day 2). Uni began the run chase in difficult conditions, with poor light and rain threatening. The batsmen had to put up with those conditons throughout the day and several light showers made batting difficult. The boys stuck to there task well and patnerships between Richard Maddock and Kogo Fugiki, and then Kogo and Ben Wisbey gave us a real chance. A middle order collapse put the pressure back on Uni, with 8 for 80. Joseph Miller (Captain) and James Cherry (Vice Captain) batted sensibly and gave University a well deserved victory. A great team effort with all boys contributing in one way or another, saw Uni win it's first game of the season. The boys supported each other and all aspects of the game were superb. A special thanks to our batting coach, Ned Murray, whose efforts really made the dirfference. |
