New Town batted first on an overcast morning. Their openers batted sensibly and put on 25, when they both retired. Uni then got on top with some very tight bowling, witrh all bowlers bowling a very good line and length, supported by some fine fielding, restricting New Town to 93 for the loss of 7 wickets. The catching was excellent, with Liam O'Donovan taking a magnificent catch on the boundary at deep mid wicket. Kogo Fujiki with his excellent fielding and throwing was responsible for two run outs. These three wickets turned the game in Uni's favour. The University batsman batted sensibly without taking risks. Opening bat Ben Wisbey scored 14 (retired), he was abley supported by Tom Finlayson and Kog Fujiki. The pressure started to show on the middle order as New Town applied the brakes. Joseph Miller came to the crease with 20 runs required and scored a very fine 15 and was out when Uni had passed the New Town score. An excellent effort by all players contributing to enable Uni to an exciting win. |
