Toss won by Uni with captain Joseph Phillips electing to bat. Uni started slowly with both openers back in the pavilion after 5 overs with the score at 8. The remaining batsman batted carefully but runs were very hard to come by with the Nth Hobart bowlers bowling well, and their fielders supporting them. Hudson, Liam and Tim all retired after 30 minutes. Joseph tried to lift the run rate and was out for a good captain's knock of 8. Last man in Richard batted well and aggressively for 6 n.o. Uni finished with 5 for 65. A total that was always going to be dificult to defend. No doubt North Hobart were feeling very pleased with their efforts in the field. Our opening bowlers Kogo and James were brilliant, and had North Hobart 4 for 7 after four overs. The remaining bowlers continued bowling quite superbly. The fielding was first class and the opposition batsman were finding the task difficult. It ended up being a very exciting finish with Nth Hobart 9 for 52, and 5 overs to go to score the remaining 13 runs. They got the score to 57 and then they took on the Uni fielders once too often. Richard fielding at deep point fired in a magnificent throw and hit the stumps running out their last batsman. Uni winning by 8 runs. It was a tremendous effort by all the boys, with everyone contributing. The boys have come together in a very close knit group and are supporting each other admirably.
