Following on from last week`s 1st Innings Uni continued batting and were finally dismissed for 122. We just fell over the line, having dismissed Clarence for 104 last week. Two unnecessary run outs in the top order were costly in our run chase and is something we need to improve on in coming matches. Ben Read top scored with a fine captain`s knock of 51 and Josh Kemp chipped in with 13 runs in the tail when we needed it. Six batsmen were clean bowled which highlights our need to get in behind the straight ball better and dig in, being patient and waiting for the loose balls to score off. This will be our focus at training this week. In return Clarence were 9 / 163 at the close of play. Positives were some better bowling performances from our 2 nd / 3 rd change bowlers and our ground fielding which continues to improve. Well done..... and our performance will have to lift again this week as we face a very well drilled Glenorchy outfit at Mt Nelson Oval this coming week. |
