Report (by John Perry):

Well done guys, we managed to sing the 1st line of the club song, 1,2,3, and then we fell away, but that's not a bad effort seeing we have not sung the song at all this year.

With our outright win over New Town this will cement our place hopefully further up the ladder.

About our game. We were lucky to win the toss and bat first last Sunday when the temperature was well in the high 30`s, After a shaky start Rosco Deans who was put down twice in the first 3 overs, went on to make a valuble 42, backed up by some reasonable scores by Hugh, Tom & Chase Deveraux who has been a valuable player to the side upon his arrival, with runs to his name & a guy who looks like he likes a challange when the ball comes his way in the field by snaring about 6 catches in this game, although Rosco Deans manged to grab 4 the game before.

After a solid start of 5 for 180 we where all out for 187.

With still two hours in the field to go our bowlers got of to great start by having New Town for 7for 69, but were unable to take the next three wickets as quickly and New Town were only 19 runs short by the time we where able to get them all out.

I have to mention that the last game Rd 12 Jimmy Hortle made his highest score in the 17`s I think, of 28 runs & then backed it up with a 5 for 35 of 13, This game he managed to bag another 3 wickets with Tom Ritchie`s 3

With only one wicket to fall for New Town on the second Sunday, the aim was to make the game competetive and when I suggested that we bat for 30 overs or about 120 runs in front, the guys where not happy and I felt my life may be danger. After some compromising the target was 36 overs or 130 runs, but as it was, we were bowled out for 107 on the 33rd over.

With 127 runs to defend & aprox 44 overs to bowl New Town had a chance, but with two batsman out, one with Chicken Pox & the other working, this left us in a reasonable position, with Jack Young combining with Chase Deveraux cleaning up 5 of there guys with c&b`s and good catching. Tom, Brad & Robby Mallet cleaned up the rest, New Town responded with 96 for 8, needing the other two batters to make us work harder if they where to win

Well done guys and see you all next week
