Hello to the inner sanctum of the winners Circle Well done guys, now we have moved of the bottom of the ladder with New Town, watch out Glenorchy. A drizzly start welcomed us to the start of Sunday, but lucky for us it didn't stay around to long and we were able to get away within half an hour of normal starting time. Ritchie was practicing his calling of the coin like ( tails never fails) because it would be a good toss to win with the ground reasonably damp, and after the coin ran down & along the bike track it finally landed on tails and we went in for bat. As we went into bat Hugh & Jack where prepared to do their normal work for us getting us of to a good start, but this was no the case today with both guys out in the first 12 minutes & with only 7 runs on the board. A rose petal about to bloom any time (Olli chigger Robinson) certainly did a great job today not only with his running between the wickets, but he played a chanceless innings for his 44 off 62 balls before playing across the line and was bowled His partnership with Ritchie of 99 was our foundation to our total, with a excellent knock from Tom who reached his fifty in just as many balls, sorry Tom no one applauded for your fifty they just came too quick for us , Tom went on to make 57 from 57 before he made his way back in to sit with chigger, Chook had a patient knock for 44 minutes for his 11 runs, but it looked like he started to try to force it along a bit but found himself LBW. With Jimmy Hortle the only other to make it to double figures, we only managed to bat out 36 overs before Newtown had us al out 10-166 One other guy that looked OK was Joe Collidge but was unable to go on with it, so maybe he will post a big score for us yet. Now with our turn to bowl and New Towns reputation not to be the best side going about put up a reasonable fight before we had them all out for 81. Chook was the goods today with his 3 wickets and a very sharp catch in slips, that looked like the batsman tried to work it around his legs but instead caught the edge of his bat and some how managed to be caught at 1st slip. With our last results in the wide department, 19 wides today was not to bad, with about half coming from the on side with the ball swinging, so that is a huge improvement really. One thing I have noticed in the field is that every one is moving in with the bowler, maybe not attacking as hard I would like, but it does look encouraging to see everyone on the move, keep it up guys. Enrico turned up to watch the 17`s bat and bowl for a good part of there innings and at the end of the game gave them some valuable advice and an objective to aim at training. Well guys I won't be around against Glenorchy so Mr Robbo is going to look after you, have a good game . Thanks JP |
