Hooray Hooray Hooray We might be off the bottom the ladder due to a great match winning peformance by Jo Collidge, 51no, direct hit from the outfied for a run out & a catch above his head running back wards, what a champion Now I will fill in the rest for the guys who read my exellent reports, University lost the toss & Clarance went into bat, with there opening stand of 60 odd it was looking like the clarance from last year, There were quite a few chances going down that made a going a wee bit tough so Tom captain Ritchie decided to give the ball to Hugh Burgo who started there demise with his 4/25, (just to boost his lead in the fantasy league) Rossco Deans was an exellent source of energy in the field and with the comments he was offering the batsmen proved entertaining, He was able to back up his helpful advice with some great fielding Well done Rosco on this effort because there was certainly a higher engery level in our side wich showed in the fielding With the help of the remaining bowlers Clarance & of coarse Jo, Clarance where bowled out for 134 Now our turn to bat we felt this was an easy target to achieve on the Olinda Grove`s small boundry, There was only one problem in this thought and that was we where 7 for about 110 or so and still with a lot of work to do, With Rossco`s 43 who opened the batting, saw a few wickets falling untill he partenered up with Jack Young for his 47,and then came Jo Collidge with his 51 no, with his firm believe in Dr Phil Jauncy and not to change because it SUCKS, he batted as he does in the nets, with his first movement going towards square leg and using his keen eye, Jo was able to start to accumalate some runs, after I guess about an hour at the crease there was a differannt Jo bating, Back foot drives through the off side, moving in line with the ball, pull shots for a couple of sixes which was great to see and the whole side enjoyed watching Jo bring up his fifty with a six. Just going back to DR Phil for a moment and with the thought that change SUCKS, I thought why bother doing any fielding drills before we go into the field, as it has not been one of the favorite training events our U17 guys have taken to with a passion, though ther where areas of improvement that could be looked at in our catching department We were bowled out for 224 in our fisrt innings after 45 minutes play on the second day. Tom took the new ball in the second innings and set the precedent of how he wanted the game to go and the other bowlers followed suit, Olli Robinson also gave us a look at what he can do today and picked up a couple of wicket for his effort. Courtney Winter Put on the wicket keeping gloves and did a great job behind the stumps, a keeper might have been born, Mr Fanatsy Man Burgo managed a C&B to boost his total with the ball, it cant be long untill he starts getting back into the swing of things again with the bat. Barry Largerewskij with his double wicket maiden just about sealed things for us for Clarance were bowled out for 125, leaving us only 36 runs for an outright win MERRY XMAS we did it with two wickets down Thanks Guys see you next year, have a great Christmas JP |
