University bowled well, but found wickets hard to come by as South Hobart Sandy Bay Blue put together a total of 158 runs. Joseph Miller bowled out one of the openers with a quick ball when the score was at 22. The next wicket fell at 62 with a secure caught and bowled by Ben Wisbey. The score then moved to 70 until Liam O'Donovan struck and was rewarded with the next wicket. Nearing the end of the innings James Maddock picked up the last wicket to fall at 154. There were a couple of great catches taken by Sam Rhodes and Dimitri Ross and some very solid wicket keeping by Kai Roberts. With a good effort required by the batsman the openers, Joseph Miller and Ben Wisbey, took the score to 70 prior to each nearing retirement at 30 runs or 30 minutes. Jack Bilson (17) and Kogo Fujiki (13) batted solidly for 30 minutes, retired and came in again towards the end of the game. As the result indicates the teams were reasonably matched, with University running out of batsmen in the 24th over. |
