Joseph Phillips 20 |
Uni came up against a very strong Kingborough side at Lightwood Park today. Kingborough won the toss and elected to bat, on another warm afternoon. Their openers started steadily and it was only a brilliant piece of fielding from Ben W that gave us our first wicket. From then on we found the going tough and unfortunately Sam R caught a ball in the face and had to leave the field. Will who kindly filled in, got one wicket and was unlucky not to get two more. All the bowlers and fielders tried their hardest but the opposition were too good on the day. A score of 250 was always going to be difficult after being in the field in the heat, however the boys applied themselves and didn't give their wickets away. The bowlers were on target and scoring was very difficult. Joseph top scored with 20, James got 12 and Ben S 10 (his highest score so far). There were plenty of positives from this game. We were beaten by a better side but we never gave up and certainly supported each other in an excellent manner. All the batsman put a price on their wicket, which was something that didn't always occur in the past. A special mention of Ben W for playing two games, Will for filling in, and Jacques effort in the field. |
