Sth Hobart- Sandy Bay won the toss and sent Uni in to bat on a very hot day at the Hutchins South ground. Our two openers James C and Kieran got us off to our best start for the season with a 50 run partnership off 14 overs, a fantastic effort with their bowlers really making it difficult. James was first out with 26 and unfortunately Kieran followed 6 runs later on 15. Sam Hunnibell captain for the day, and Tommy put on a good partnership to take the score to 102 before Sam was out for 29. Tommy and Sam House then batted sensibly with Tommy falling with one ball to go on 27. We finished on 146 for the loss of 5 wickets. A vast improvement on the previous two games. The boys batted sensibly, supporting each other and really puting a value on their wicket. Our opening bowlers Sven and Sam Hunnibell bowled well and without detracting from the Sth Hoabrt batsman, we were unlucky with a couple of edges going to ground and several more falling just in front of our fieldsman. The opposition took their chances and despite a good bowling effort they passed our score in the 26th over. They finished with 250 for the loss of 6 wickets. Our fielding was good with everyone remaining focused and trying hard especially when you take into account the high temperature. James C was our most successful bowler picking up 2 wicket for 18 off 6 overs, and Kieran, Tommy and Joseph each bowling well picking up 1 wicket each. Overall a good game by the boys and a vast improvement on the previous 2 weeks. A special thanks to James Maddock from our u13s who filled in at very short notice. To play all day in the 30 + heat and in the manner he did was a fantastic effort. He bowled 3 very good overs of off-spin against batsman who were well set and finished with 0 for 19. |
