Thomastown United Cricket Club (TUCC) will hold its second Girls Winter Cricket Academy in August 2025. Supported by the Victoria Government's 'Change our Game' program and Cricket Australia, enrolment is now open.

The academy is free and is aimed at girls at all levels and ages. Girls who are new to cricket, or who have stopped and want to give it another go, and girls who regularly play through the summer in club and rep levels are encouraged to apply.

Sessions will be held across the first four Sundays of August at the top facilities at SmashX in Epping and our beautiful grounds at Thomastown United Cricket Club.

Sunday 3 August: 11 am -12 pm

• Coaching session focused on batting and bowling at SmashX Indoor Centre: 143 O’Herns Rd, Epping

Sunday 10 August: 11 am - 12 pm

• Coaching session focused on batting and bowling at SmashX Indoor Centre: 143 O’Herns Rd, Epping

Sunday 17 August: 11 am to 1 pm

• CricketIQ and Personal Skill Development Session at Thomastown United Cricket Club, Leslie Street, Thomastown

Sunday 24 August: 11:30 am to 1 pm

• Coaching for fielding, batting and bowling at SmashX Indoor Centre: 143 O’Herns Rd, Epping

Gear will be available for girls who do not as yet have their own.

This years academy does not just focus on the technical skills girls might need to play on the ground but also the social skills so integral to the enjoyment of the game. Teamwork, communication and leadership will all be introduced as part of the broader skill development undertaken by the academy.

For girls who are registered with Thomastown United Cricket Club for the coming summer, the 2025 academy is part of an integrated program to support the development of their cricket over the longer-term. Goals and skills developed through the academy will be carried through their summer of training and playing and channelled into our 2026 Winter Academy. The aim is to develop longer-term pathways which are fun, inclusive and support broad skill development relevant to cricket and beyond.

Note that girls need to commit to all four sessions in August. It is run entirely by volunteers dedicated to community cricket and we seek applications from families who respect that.
